Understanding Spiritual Realm

I got convicted this week... My friend was like, “You didn’t post anything for a while.” I had it on my mind, but just had no time and energy to do it, to be honest. I really enjoy sharing what God has placed on my heart with you, though. As I was wondering what to share this week, I was pondering the spiritual realm and how many people are actually hungry for the spiritual realm but access it the wrong way and get into trouble. Coming closer to Halloween, I believe that it is a timely word.

First of all, I want to say that we are created for a spiritual realm. God made us spiritual beings, and He wants to give us access and an understanding of it, but He also made it very clear how to access it. Unfortunately, there are other ways to access it, and many people choose other ways than God’s way. Why? Because of a lack of knowledge and understanding, because they are looking for a thrill, because of greed and hunger for power, or because they are hurt and wounded and are looking for love and validation in the wrong places.

So how should you access the spiritual world?

You should only access the spiritual world through Jesus Christ. Jesus told us that He is the way, the truth and the life; no one can access the Father but only through Me.

Jesus also said: “Very truly I tell you Pharisees, anyone who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber” (10:1). This tells us that there are other ways to access the spiritual world, but that these people entered it illegally, and their operation in the realm is illegal, which means that all they can do is rob and steal in the realm to be able to operate in it. They use illegal tactics to be able to enjoy it.

Spiritual world is very legalistic

One thing that you need to understand about the spiritual realm is that it is very, very legalistic. I was shocked at how legalistic it was when I first encountered it because I believed, like most Christians, that all our sins are forgiven, we are set free and delivered by the blood, right? And even though it is true on paper and may be even in our belief system, if it is not enforced in your life, you will not enjoy its benefits. This is why so many Christians struggle in various areas in their lives and have a relationship with God but don’t enjoy the benefits of what Jesus has died for.

Another thing that shocked me was that God sees and does not step in if the enemy has a legal right to do what they do. Unless you address the issue and deal with it, the enemy has a right to do what they do. Let me explain. A few years back, I was living my best life, was doing what I loved to do, and everything was going just great. Then one day, I was attacked by the enemy like crazy, so heavily that I didn’t know how to handle it, and the Holy Spirit told me that the enemy attacked me because of the sins of my father. They wouldn’t allow me to go higher in my destiny because they had a legal right over my life because of what was in my bloodline.

Now listen, my parents separated when I was 5, and I never had a real relationship with my father. I don’t actually know this man. My mum got into a relationship soon after with a man who took care of us as if we were his children, and so I never felt like I didn’t have a father in my life. But when it came to the legalities in the spirit, it was my biological father that mattered. It didn’t matter that I didn’t know this man, that I didn’t know what he did, or that I didn’t have a relationship with him. My bloodline is connected with him, and the enemy found a loophole.

I had a great relationship with God when I was attacked. I was sure that because I walked with Him, He would step in and protect me, but no, the enemy had legal grounds, and I needed to deal with it in a legal way for this to be resolved. So how do you deal with legal cases in the spiritual realm? You basically create a court case against the enemy and present your case before God. First of all, you need to repent for the sins in your life and in your bloodline, you renounce them, and then you break every agreement with them and renounce any covenants and contracts that have been made with the enemy due to sin.

When you sin, you make an agreement with the enemy to operate in your life, and it affects not only you but your future generations. That’s why you have to be careful what you open yourself to. Then, you present what Jesus has done on the cross and how your sins are wiped away by the blood of Jesus, not by you or your good deeds but by Jesus, and show that the guilt and debt have been paid off by Jesus Christ, so the enemy has no right to touch you anymore because the debt has been paid. Lastly, you need to ask God to remove any consequences of the sins in your bloodline and break any curses that operate in your life because of them. If you are the first-generation Christian, you probably have more of these to deal with than someone who is already enjoying the blessings of previous generations.

Many people deal with situations in their lives and have no idea that the problems are connected to sins and curses from their bloodline. I remember praying for someone who just came out as homosexual. I was really heartbroken about this, so I prayed for them, asking the Holy Spirit why the enemy did this, and He told me that it was because of the sin of their great-great-grandfather or great-great-great-grandfather—I can’t remember which one, but the open door was due to the sins of their ancestors. We think that it doesn’t matter what happened in previous generations and that all sins have been forgiven, but it is not so in the spiritual realm. The enemy will find whatever they can to come against you. If there is nothing in you, they will search in your bloodline.

As I said, I had a great and intimate relationship with God when I was attacked, and that didn’t save me from the legal rights the enemy had against me. Some attacks don’t come and manifest in your life until you want to do something great for God. That’s when the enemy comes as an accuser and says, “No, she can’t do that because her ancestors did this and that. I have a legal hold over her.” So understanding this and knowing how to handle this is very important. I didn’t understand it then, but I have now learned how to operate in the spiritual realm.

Dangers of accessing the spiritual realm without authority or illegally

Now let’s talk about the dangers of accessing the spiritual realm without authority or illegally.

Many people have the misconception that the enemy doesn’t give you success, money, fame or what you want. The enemy is willing to give you what you want as long as you don’t serve the Lord, don’t worship Him and lead people astray. I am sure that you have watched many Hollywood stars who have shared how they gave away their souls for their fame—people that we idolise and aspire to be like, serve the devil and enjoy fame, influence, money and success in people’s eyes. But at what price? Many of them struggle mentally, are oppressed by demons and want to or commit suicide to end the oppression.

The Bible says, “What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul?” This is a very dangerous place to be. It doesn’t matter how successful we look in the open, but the question is, how prosperous are we behind closed doors? Are we at peace when we are alone, or are we trying to escape the world behind closed doors? Is our soul prosperous? The Bible says that we should prosper as our soul prospers—this is why it is important to invest in your soul. You prosper as your soul prospers, and this is godly prosperity.

The enemy may give you what you want, but there is a price attached to it. I always think about the Little Mermaid movie to demonstrate it because this is exactly what the enemy does. The Little Mermaid wanted to be with this man, so she went to the evil witch, who gave her the ability to live on land, but she had to give away her voice. The enemy will give you what you want but will take away the original God had for you so you don’t operate and bless others with it. Do you know that your gifts and talents are connected with your heart’s desires? So when you don’t operate in them, you don’t feel fulfilled. You feel like something is wrong and are not happy—this is why so many stars are struggling mentally. Just a side thought.

The enemy steals what you have to use it for their kingdom and benefit. The evil witch used the Little Mermaid’s gift and sang with her voice, not her own, and thus deceived the prince. The enemy doesn’t have anything to give; they have to steal to give. So if you received something from the enemy, know that it was stolen from someone. The devil is not a creator; he can’t bless you with anything of his own because he doesn’t have it. God only creates out of nothing and can bless you abundantly without affecting another human being.

The devil even offered all the kingdoms of the world and their glory to Jesus, so yes, he has the power to give it to other people. In fact, most people who hit a certain level of success will be tempted by the enemy before they rise higher because the devil will not let them go higher without a fight. This is where many people fail. You need to be secure in who God is and pass the test if you want to do it the right way. But to think that Satan actually offered Jesus what He wanted is just another example of how the devil operates.

The source matters—you may, on the outside, have what you know God wanted you to have but receive it from the wrong source and thus have the counterfeit. You can access the spiritual world and not have access from the legitimate source but rather the counterfeit. You should only have access to God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit and work with them, their angels and heavenly beings. You should not work with any other beings in the spiritual realm—yes, there are demons, fallen angels and other entities, but we have no authority to take anything from them or work with them. It is illegal in God’s eyes, it opens the door to idolatry and brings a lot of damage to your life. The enemy does not do anything for free even if they give you power and your desire; they come to steal, kill and destroy, and that’s exactly what they will do if you open the door.

You can see in the spirit and not have the sight from the Holy Spirit but from another spirit, such as a spirit of divination, and you can hear voices and think that it’s the Holy Spirit, but it could be a different spirit, like a snake. Many people think that God is speaking to them, but it’s a different spirit leading them, and then they get into trouble. That’s why discerning of spirits is very important and understanding that other spirits may mimic the Holy Spirit. We need to know that just because we have experiences in the spirit doesn’t mean that they come from God, and it doesn’t mean that God is in them. Sometimes, it is the enemy that is trying to deceive us, especially if you are someone who is open to the spiritual realm but don’t have knowledge or understanding. The enemy will prey on that. Know that there is the right way to access it, and access it only through your relationship with God.
