How To Have a Relationship with God?

RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

I don't know what your story is when it comes to searching for God. Maybe you feel like you've searched everywhere, but He didn’t respond, so you stopped looking. Or maybe you've never searched for God and you're just curious to find out more. Or perhaps your biased against the idea altogether.

If you're wondering whether God exists and whether it's actually possible to have a relationship with Him, I can assure you: He is alive and active on Earth today—and yes, you can have a relationship with God

First, we need to understand that the first people on Earth failed God. They disobeyed and rebelled against Him. God told them not to eat the fruit from a specific tree, but they did it anyway (Genesis 3)

You might wonder, "Why would God allow that?" God had to give them the option to disobey and break the relationship—otherwise, it wouldn’t have been true free will. They would have had no choice but to obey because there wouldn’t have been any other option. And no one wants a forced relationship. God wanted them to choose Him every time—but they chose their own way.

God is righteous and holy, so He had to separate Himself from them because He cannot be in the presence of sin. Their sin led to spiritual death and physical removal from the Garden of Eden.

Today, when we're born, we're born into a world of sin—separated from God both spiritually and physically. But God didn’t leave us like that. He loves us too much to leave us hopeless

God sent His only Son as a ransom for our sins so that we can be born again spiritually and reconciled with Him—restoring the relationship, just like Adam and Eve once had.

"All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation." (2 Corinthians 5:18)

Jesus endured a brutal death on the cross for our sins, even though He was sinless. He paid the price for our guilt so that we can stand righteous before God and be reunited with Him. That’s how much God loves us. He wanted a relationship with us so deeply that He gave His only Son.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16)

Jesus died and was raised from the dead. He now sits at the right hand of the Father, ruling over the Earth. And because of what Jesus did, we are no longer condemned by our sins—He has already paid the price for us

So if Jesus already paid the price for your sins and made a way for you to be reconciled with the Father, then what do you need to do?

The Bible says that you need to believe that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died for your sins, and that through Him you can have a relationship with the Father. You must confess this with your mouth and believe it in your heart

"If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9)

All you need is faith to receive salvation and eternal life with God. When you confess Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, you are reconciled with God and your spirit is reborn. And since God is Spirit, we must have a relationship with Him through our spirit.

Are you ready?

If you are, let’s pray:

Lord, I confess that I am a sinner and I need Your salvation. Lord Jesus, I thank You that You died for my sins and wrongdoings. I thank You that You paid the price for my sins so I can have a relationship with God and receive eternal life. Jesus, I invite You into my heart as my Lord and Saviour. Thank You that now You and the Father come to live in me. Lord, I thank You for the Holy Spirit, whom You’ve given me as a Helper. I receive Him in the mighty name of Jesus. Please help me to live a life that is pleasing to You. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

I hope you’ve prayed this prayer and received Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. If you haven’t, I want you to know that there is no other way to access God except through Jesus Christ.

Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6)

If you have prayed this, welcome to the family! I am so pleased for you! I promise—you will never regret this decision. The Bible says that when one person turns to the Father, all of heaven rejoices. There is a party in heaven right now because of you!

Now, it’s time to cultivate and nourish your relationship with God—just like with any other relationship. Spend time with Him. Pray, worship, and join a Bible based church with sound teachings. So important!
