How To Have a Relationship with God

I don’t know what is your story when it comes to searching for God, maybe you feel like you have searched everywhere but He didn’t respond to you at all so you stopped looking, or maybe you never searched for God and are just curious to find out more about it, whatever it is I’ve got you!

If you wondering whether God exists and whether it is actually possible to have a relationship with God, I can assure you that He is alive and active on Earth today and yes, you can have a relationship with God.

First, we need to know that the first people on Earth failed God. They have disobeyed Him and rebelled against Him. God told them not to eat the fruit from the tree and they have done it. (Genesis 3)

You probably wonder why would God do that. God needed to give them the possibility to disobey Him and break the relationship because otherwise, it wouldn’t be free will to have a relationship with Him. They would have no choice but to have it because they didn’t have any other options. And no one wants a relationship that is forced. God wanted them to choose Him every time but they chose their own way.

God is righteous and holy, so He needed to punish them by separating Himself from them because He can’t be in the presence of sin. The sin against God led to spiritual death and physical removal from the garden of Eden.

Now when we are born, we are born to a world with sin and separated from God spiritually and physically. But God did not leave us like that. He loves us too much to leave us hopeless.

God sent His only Son as a ransom for our sins so we can be born again spiritually and be reconciled with God, meaning have a relationship with Him again in the same way Adam and Eve did.

“All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation” (2 Corinthians 5:18)

Jesus endured brutal death on the cross for our sins, even though He was sinless, and paid the price for our guilt.

So we can stand righteous before God and be united with Him again. That’s how much God loved us and wanted to have a relationship with us that He gave His only Son to us.

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have enteral life. (John 3:16)

Jesus died and was raised from the dead to sit at the right hand of the Father and rule over the Earth where we are no more condemned by our sins because Jesus paid the price for them.

So if Jesus already paid the price for your sins and made a way for you to be reconciled with the Father then what do you need to do?

The Bible tells us that you have to believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that He has died for you so you can have a relationship with the Father. You need to confess your faith with your mouth and believe it in your heart.

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord”, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)

So all you need is faith to receive salvation from God and have eternal life with Him. Once you confess Jesus as your Lord and Saviour you will be reconciled with God and will be able to have a real relationship with God because your spirit will be reborn. And God is a Spirit, so you need to have a relationship with God through your spirit.

I thank you that you have paid the price for my sins so I can have a relationship with God and I can have eternal life. Jesus, I invite you into my heart as my Lord and Saviour. Thank you that now you and your Father will come to live in my heart. Lord, I thank you for the Holy Spirit whom you gave me as a Helper, I receive Him in the mighty name of Jesus. Now you need to cultivate and nourish your relationship with God as you do with any other relationship. Spend time with Him, pray to Him, worship Him, and read the Bible regularly. Find a local church that will help you in your growth.

My advice would to be spend as much time with God now as you can to get to know Him and find out about Him, read the Bible, study, find good Christian books, and listen to sermons online – you can find plenty online! Enjoy!
